Shoreline to sell ‘doer-upper’ houses starting from just £16,250

Empty properties with more than a third off the market value could make home ownership dreams a reality for first-time buyers in Grimsby when they go on sale this week.

Shoreline is offering more doer-upper homes – older empty properties requiring work – to buy with an impressive discount of 35 per cent off the market value. The lowest price home is going on sale for just £16,250. This is an incredible £210,506 CHEAPER than the national average in the UK.

Located in the West Marsh, three two-bedroom and two three-bedroom homes will be advertised on Wednesday, February 14 at www.shorelinehp.com

Shoreline successfully launched their popular Doer-Upper scheme in November as an affordable home ownership opportunity also aimed at helping to regenerate and improve neighbourhoods and sustain communities.

The homes vary in specification from needing redecoration and upgrading to more comprehensive work providing the opportunity for local residents to become a home owner, purchasing an affordable home while ‘doing it up’ and making it their own.

The first set of properties included three and four-bedroom homes across the borough located in central Grimsby, Immingham and Cleethorpes.

Successful local applicant 29-year-old Jason Blake said: “It’s a fantastic scheme – it’s brilliant. I’m 30 this year and I’m able to buy a house outright before I reach my thirties.

“It’s been so hard for me to get onto the property ladder so this has been ideal.”

Shoreline home ownership manager Sarah Smaller said: “We realise that these homes require work but if you’ve been waiting to get on the local housing ladder and have struggled with rising property prices and deposits, it could be the ideal opportunity for you.

“We already run a successful shared ownership programme and this is another way for us to offer affordable home ownership opportunities to local residents while getting these properties back into use and making the communities they are located in more sustainable.”

The Doer-Upper scheme is open to anyone who lives or works in North East Lincolnshire, who does not own a property already and meets other eligibility criteria.

The scheme is designed for owner-occupiers not property investors, developers or landlords and priority is given to existing Shoreline tenants.

The sales do not affect any occupied properties and therefore no existing tenant or leaseholder.

Similar successful schemes have been launched across the country ensuring vacant homes are reoccupied and revived.

More information about the scheme is available at www.shorelinehp.com where individuals can also apply.

More properties will be advertised as and when available and customers can ensure they are kept up-to-date by signing up for marketing alerts.
